Scott Brown: Celtic captain dismissed for aiming kick at Barcelona's Neymar

The Celtic captain was sent off for kicking out at Neymar after the pair tangled while chasing a loose ball during the second half in Glasgow.

The Champions League Group H game was goalless at the time, and Barca went on to win 1-0 thanks to a late Cesc Fabregas header.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon afterwards refused to condemn his midfielder's actions, dismissing the incident as "nothing".

But as the dust settled on his side's second straight group defeat, Brown told his club's website: "I realise that I made a mistake in getting sent off.

"It's something that happened in the heat of the moment but I shouldn't have acted in this way.

"I still think it was a harsh decision. However, I recognise that I made a mistake and put myself and my team-mates in a difficult position. I need to live with that and there is no-one more disappointed than me about losing the match.

"There wasn't a huge amount of contact at all, to be honest, but I have to accept responsibility for my actions - and I do.

"The team deserved to get something out of the game after playing so brilliantly and putting in so much effort against one of the best sides in the world.

"I was also disappointed for the supporters after the incredible backing they gave us during the game. They were magnificent once again."

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.

'Tactically Inept And Lacking In Belief And Style'

It's fair to say that the 'Moyes Out' brigade is understandably out in force, whilst there are also staunch defences of Mourinho and Arteta. Plus, Liverpool fans can almost taste it.

That's Why We Didn't Want Jose At United

There is plenty of reaction to Mourinho's antics (Isn't that exactly what he wanted?) plus thoughts on Connor Wickham, Fabio Borini, beach balls and Tim Sherwood...
