Neil Lennon: Celtic boss has been dazzled by the contribution of Kris Commons

Commons combined with Georgios Samaras with three minutes on the clock to get behind the Caley Thistle defence and blast a low drive through the keeper's legs for the decisive goal.

Lennon has previously stated the former Derby midfielder, who was signed for £500,000 in January 2011, has been his most valuable purchase.

And the Hoops boss reiterated his opinion of the 30-year-old as he took is goals tally in the current campaign to 15 as Celtic claimed a second away win in four day, following the 1-0 success over St Johnstone.

"He is wonderful and he is in wonderful form," Lennon said. "I thought the goal was brilliant and when you see Kris in those positions you get disappointed when he doesn't score, he's that good at it.

"That is 15 for the season for us now, so he has been absolutely huge for me in the past couple of years and I think he will only get better.

"With the pitch being heavy as it is, it is very difficult to play quick football, the ball bobbled quite a bit. It is the winter. The conditions are going to prove to be difficult.

"It is not conducive to flowing football and at times you have to be a bit more physical and grind out results and that is what we have done in the last two games."

Inverness manager John Hughes was frustrated at the timing of the goal, but felt his team competed throughout the match.

"We are disappointed to lose the match with the early goal," said Hughes. "The first thing you say when playing Celtic is keep it tight for 20 minutes so to lose that goal was disappointing.

"The way we went about our business; we passed it about very well and the ball retention was very good.

"You are not going to create chance after chance against Celtic. You are playing against a right good football team. But when a few chances come along you hope that you take them."

he uber commercialisation of the 90s has led to the point where this overly familar, try hard, jolly hockey sticks type fronts up a major football match on a weekly basis. Unlike the great presenters of yesteryear, I doubt he would even recognise the scent of Brut.

onfirmed. Nick Miller is a douche bag. Lazy, incoherent rant is what this article should be titled. And for the editor to have the temerity to pass this as acceptable writing is shocking. Ah well, anything for clicks right? You got mine. Well done. Your mother must be proud.
