Murrayfield: Will host Celtic's qualifying games this summer

The club's Celtic Park home is being used for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in July - a date which falls between potential home games in the second and third qualifying rounds.

And a deal has been struck to use Edinburgh's 67,000-seat Murrayfield - the home of Scottish rugby - should Celtic complete what appear to be the formalities of a third straight title success.

"Clearly we very much hope to be involved in the Champions League qualifying matches in July and early August," said chief executive Peter Lawwell.

"If this is the case then we felt it important that our fans know our proposed arrangements as early as possible.

"We are fortunate that we have such a fantastic and sizeable support and clearly it is important that we allow as many fans as possible to attend our matches.

"Murrayfield is a magnificent stadium, it is the obvious choice and we are sure it will be a venue which will provide a great footballing occasion. We will keep our supporters well informed of all potential arrangements as we move forward".

Scottish Rugby's director of commercial communications Dominic McKay said: "We're delighted to welcome Celtic to Murrayfield for their UEFA Champions League qualifying matches this summer, one of the biggest annual sport competitions.

"Scottish Rugby is proud of the facilities we have on offer in Edinburgh. This is a fantastic opportunity for Celtic to work with us to promote Murrayfield as a venue not just for rugby, in 2014."

Celtic have a 21-point lead over second-placed Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership with 30 points still available.

m only commenting on this (I don't care about Liverpool) because F365's twitter said I had call Matt Stanger a tw*t (which I don't agree with anyway) but I just wanted to be the first. Am I the first?

unday, Sunday. Will there be a fan of either team, who if they are winning after 80 mins, won't still be nervous? This could be anything from 0-0 to 5-5, and no one would bat an eye.
