Craig Gordon: New Celtic goalkeeper cannot wait to get going

Celtic have signed the former Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon - who has not played for over two seasons due to a serious knee injury - on a two-year contract.

Before flying out to join the rest of his new team-mates on their pre-season tour in Austria, he told Sky Sports News how delighted he was to have a second chance at the highest level.

"For me, to be here at all is an achievement," Gordon said. "It is a fantastic club to be joining after the injury nightmare that I've had. I'm grateful to have this opportunity and I'm going to work as hard as I possibly can to play as many games as I can.

Fraser Forster is the established No 1 at Celtic Park but Gordon is reslihing the chance to compete for the jersey with the England squad member.

"He's the best player in this country at this moment certainly," he said. "So it's a great challenge for me to come in and train with him and push him all the way and try and get as many game as I can."

Celtic play the second qualifying round of their Champions League tie with KR Reykjavik on 15 July at Murrayfield - a ground where Gordon has tasted European football with Hearts.

"I think the crowd will be bigger than what Hearts got so that will certainly help," he said.

"The new surface being put in will be different from the last time I played there. But it's a great stadium. I have been there for rugby matches and when it is full it can make for a great atmosphere."

ll very well selling all midfield and strikers but unless we bring anyone in that is better than what we had then it will be a terrible transfer window in my view. Sorted out the defense but our midfield and striker options look very light.

ove it when Jose accuses others of being defensive, cynical and playing to win. If I was Wenger, I'd get that quote laminated and framed - surely the biggest compliment he's ever received from Mourinho. You've got him riled Arsene - you're relevant again!

t's wrong to be making a joke out of Bender's name at the expense of gay people. It's the kind of childish, uncivilised thing that Football365 would deride and ridicule if it was another media outlet saying. Why is there a need for jokes like this? Does it make your writers feel like men? F365 might suggest that I 'lighten up', but it is genuinely traumatic for people who have been oppressed all their lives to be the butt of jokes, and to be told...
