Ian Black: Picked up his sixth booking in 11 games against Airdrie

Black, 28, is banned for the Scottish League One clash at Forfar on 20 January after picking up a sixth booking in 11 games during last week's 1-0 win at Airdrie.

The yellow card came as a result of him shoving an Airdrie player who had fouled him and McCoist feels his player has become a target for opponents.

"Ian comes in for a bit of heavy treatment," McCoist told the Rangers official website. "I said to him after the game at Airdrie that he can't react the way he reacted there and everybody appreciates that.

"Some of the challenges on him though are ridiculous and watching back that game, there were a couple that fell into that category.

"Ian's just one of these players for us. He has certainly been fouled and he gets his fair share of fouls on him.

"The reaction he gave at Airdrie and the booking he got was disappointing but there was part of me which could understand his frustration as the tackle on him was very poor."

McCoist, whose team won 2-0 at Stenhousemuir on Sunday, added: "Ian is doing well for us overall which is the main thing and he will be a miss for us in the Forfar game as he has given us great stability in the middle of the park with Nicky Law."

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

H

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

Wenger hails important win

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
