Niall McGinn bagged a second-half hat-trick as the Dons cut Dundee nine points adrift at the foot at the SPL table and Brown felt it was the perfect tonic following their Boxing Day defeat at Motherwell.

"We were excellent. Niall got a hat-trick but it wasn't just him," the former Scotland boss said.

"We were far more like ourselves and got what we deserved.

"It's a great three points and will get the confidence right back up again."
