Ryan Gauld: Dundee United youngster tipped to go all the way

The 17-year-old midfielder, who broke into the first team this season, has been linked with a host of top clubs including Real Madrid and has earned the monicker 'Baby Messi'.

The news completes a clean sweep for the resurgent Taysiders after Jackie McNamara and Andrew Robertson collected the monthly manager and player accolades respectively.

Left-footed Gauld, who made his debut for the Scotland U21 side during the month, made his Tangerines debut as a 16-year-old in May 2012.

He has since scored four goals for the senior team, making 14 appearances this season.

United scored 14 goals in four games during the month and would have had a 100% record but for a last-minute goal from Celtic's Charlie Mulgrew.

Their rich vein of form shows little sign of abating as they crushed Hearts 4-1 in their Premiership match on Saturday.

icky van Wolfswinkel's remarkable record of one goal from one game at least deserves an honourable mention. And I'm willing to bet that at least one of Costa, Ulloa or Enner Valencia will earn a place on the list by the end of the season. Probably not Costa
