Laurent Blanc: Expects Monaco to have a good season

Monaco invested heavily in their squad over the summer after securing their return to the top flight as Ligue 2 champions.

The financial backing of Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev has allowed Claudio Ranieri's side to bring in some of the biggest names in world football to challenge reigning champions PSG for the Ligue 1 crown this year, with the likes of Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez signed for large sums.

With a host of new additions it would have been understandable if Ranieri had struggled to get the best out of his squad in the opening weeks of the new season.

But Monaco currently sit top of the table having taken 13 points from a possible 15 while conceding just twice, a feat that has not gone unnoticed by Blanc.

"Monaco are one of the best teams, they will have a very good season," he told reporters.

"The speed with which they have found that cohesion is impressive. They recruited great players with Falcao, [Eric] Abidal and [Ricardo] Carvalho and they have all gelled quickly.

"I saw them win against Marseille and they had good match. When there are good players, you do not necessarily have to wait several years to get results."

Qatari-owned PSG also go in to the match unbeaten and just two points behind their opponents with a 4-1 midweek win away at Olympiacos in the Champions League keeping their spirits high.

Monaco midfielder Mounir Obbadi, who spent much of his formative career at PSG, is looking forward to returning to the capital, even if the hosts will go in to the game as favourites.

"That club means an awful lot to me," he told Monaco's official website.

"I spent 13 years there, all my youth football from the age of seven. It will be a special match for me.

"I'm Parisian. All my family live in the area, all my friends.

"I will be more motivated than ever, hoping to win, even though Paris will start favourites.

"We are heading to the Parc des Princes with plenty of desire and motivation and I hope it will make for a good match."

I

expect Pulis to have a nice Christmas dinner with his family- probably all sitting around the table wearing Christmas themed baseball caps, before he gets the call. Realistically he could end up at any number of clubs, it'll be interesting to see which club folds first.

For Foxes' Sake, Call The Pulis...

A

s a Liverpool fan, I personally hate Palace. My pick would probably be Arsenal, which is funny because it seems the vast majority of their own fans don't even like them right now.
