Blanc curses Parisiens' luck

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc believes the Ligue 1 champions' luck deserted them in their disappointing 1-1 home draw with Ajaccio.

Laurent Blanc: Feels his side did enough to win against Ajaccio

The Parc des Princes faithful witnessed 64million euro striker Edinson Cavani score his first competitive goal for PSG on Sunday night, but they would have preferred to watch the Uruguayan notching the winner than see him rescue a point at the death.

Fabrizio Ravanelli's Corsicans were under the cosh from start to finish, but Benoit Pedretti's ninth-minute goal meant the pressure was on PSG to chase the game.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Cavani went close to equalising on numerous occasions but when the latter finally wore down Ajaccio's resolve four minutes from time, it was only enough to leave the champions four points shy of the leading pack and without a win thus far.

Blanc told PSG's official website: "We created a lot of chances, especially in the second half. Luck deserted us, but we also missed chances in front of goal, due to our lack of physical freshness.

"It hasn't been the start of the season we were hoping for. We would have liked to have more points, but we have to keep working."

Cavani, whose 104 goals for Napoli persuaded PSG to make him the French league's record signing, was equally frustrated but remained philosophical.

"This is football, that's how it goes," he said. "We deserved to win on the night and we had so many chances!

"But little by little we are improving and with hard work, we will achieve our goals."

While the capital club bemoaned two points lost, Ajaccio were celebrating a first point of the season earned against all odds.

Pedretti, who bent a superb shot into the top corner from 20 yards, told L'Equipe: "It was a miraculous point.

"We could barely put four passes together or get out of our own box.

"We certainly didn't have much fun but we earned a welcome point thanks to our solidarity."

m only commenting on this (I don't care about Liverpool) because F365's twitter said I had call Matt Stanger a tw*t (which I don't agree with anyway) but I just wanted to be the first. Am I the first?

unday, Sunday. Will there be a fan of either team, who if they are winning after 80 mins, won't still be nervous? This could be anything from 0-0 to 5-5, and no one would bat an eye.
