A win for the home side - who are favourites to win a second consecutive Ligue 1 title after more lavish spending - would see them overtake Monaco in the league standings and, depending on St Etienne's result against Toulouse, could see them top the league.

PSG are on a three-game winning run in Ligue 1 and will have been buoyed by their strong Champions League performance against Greek champions Olympiakos.

A poor showing in the first half, from which the Parisians were fortunate to go in level, was transformed in 17 second half minutes as three corners were met with headers from Thiago Motta (two) and Marquinhos to give Laurent Blanc's men a remarkable 4-1 victory in Greece.

A good week could get even better for PSG too, with reports suggesting striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is poised to extend his contract with the club by a further year through to 2016.

They will face stern opposition in the form of Claudio Ranieri's Monaco, with the principality club having made full use of the investment of owner Dmitry Ryobolvlev.

They are unbeaten in the league this season and will be able to welcome Jeremy Toulalan back, while striker Radamel Falcao will be looking to continue his goal-laden start to life in red and white.

The Colombian has scored four goals in Ligue 1 so far, adding to a start that has even surprised the club's hierarchy.

Vadim Vasyliev said: "We expected it to take longer. Stepping out of Ligue 2 means we must remain humble. Paris are champions and will be favourites, but we will go there to win. There is no fear."

Marseille will look to get back on song in the league after their Champions League loss to Arsenal.

They lost 2-1 to the Gunners on Wednesday but head to Corsica this weekend to face Bastia, looking to regain some league form as well. Their last two games have seen them lose to Monaco and draw with Toulouse.

The weekend's action starts with second-placed St Etienne facing Toulouse on Friday, while on Saturday Evian face Montpellier, Reins take on Guingamp, Rennes are at home to Ajaccio and Lille go to Sochaux.

The rest of the weekend is made up by Lyon - fresh from Europa League action - meeting Nantes on Sunday, while Bordeaux meet Lorient and Nice match up with Valenciennes.

e'll be fine, no problem. If they do get relegated, he's definitely going to ask how anyone could ever have thought that Villa were going to be fine given their problems before he came.

toke though. Hmn. I don't think it was defending that made people dislike Stoke so much as the out and out cheating/nastiness they regularly displayed. That, and they kept buying the odd flair player and then ruining them (Oh! Tuncay, what were you thinking?).

ell that really inspires me with confidence. No point in training, deciding on a coherent formation, or playing players in their best positions, let's just hope we get lucky.
