Thiago Silva: Would love to play alongside Wayne Rooney at PSG

PSG, the reigning Ligue 1 champions, were among those heavily linked with Manchester United striker Rooney over the summer - amid talk that he was pushing for an Old Trafford exit.

United made it clear that they would not be sanctioning a sale and the England international saw out the window on their books.

Silva, though, believes there may be further opportunities to put a deal in place - with it possible that PSG will renew their interest in January or again in 2014.

He told the Sunday Mirror: "I was hopeful we would sign Wayne Rooney this summer and I am hopeful that we still can.

"It is clear his future at Manchester United is not certain.

"The player himself has made it clear that he would like a new challenge.

"If he still feels that way in January or even next summer then, once again, I would urge him to come and join PSG.

"We are the most exciting project in European football and it is clear from the ambition of our owners that we are going to be successful."

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.

'Tactically Inept And Lacking In Belief And Style'

It's fair to say that the 'Moyes Out' brigade is understandably out in force, whilst there are also staunch defences of Mourinho and Arteta. Plus, Liverpool fans can almost taste it.
