Aymen Abdennour: Among those being monitored by Barcelona

Barca are starting to put plans for the future in place at Camp Nou and appreciate that a long-term replacement for club captain Carles Puyol at centre-half must be found.

Abdennour is rumoured to be among those under consideration and has been watched on several occasions by Catalan scouts.

Positive reports have been sent back and Barca have invited the Tunisia international to be their guest for a UEFA Champions League last-16 encounter with AC Milan on 12th March.

Abdennour is flattered to learn that such a prestigious club is tracking his progress and admits he would welcome the opportunity to test himself at the very highest level after two years in France.

He said: "Barcelona are a top team, but the invitation does not mean that I will sign for them.

"It is no secret that I have been watched several times by them, but also by other big clubs.

"I have always dreamt of playing for a big club and by the grace of God I will achieve that."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
