Sound justification for making a huge life changing move: '... I always liked Real Madrid's white shirt...'. Lucky for him he didn't like blue and white halved shirts, or go knows where he'd have ended up

footyfan52: Spot on, Rooney had us over a barrel really & I think Van Persie has similar wages now too and worth every penny might I add :) Given Sneijder's fall from grace it could have been a bullet dodged we will never know (I am always sceptical since the Witch came to Old Trafford), I always wanted Modric and probably still do - even after last night :(

Sneijder whoare you tryingt to fool, United do offer a lot for a player they're really after, e.g. Rio Ferdinand, Berbatov. However their wage structure is very unique, they don't pay huge wages like City and Chelsea, it was Rooney who became an exception, the respect and love he gets from the fans has never been the same ever since that.

No your extortionate wage demands sealed the deal I believe.

I've always been a big fan of Wes but the reason no one could afford you is not necessarily all down to your transfer fee. Your wages are among the highest in football (especially when you look post taxes). That probably played a huge role in things.

m absolutely disgusted that I've been misquoted in saying that if a chance came up to join Arsenal I would be interested. What I meant to say is if Man United or Chelsea were interested......

s there a PR agency covering Begovich, Odemwingie, Steven Fletcher and Grant Holt or something? Why would you offer a quote like that without having been announced by either club. #headsshoulderskneesandtoesgone
