Lionel Messi: Barcelona ace expects to return to Argentina later in his career

The Argentina international began his career in Rosario playing for Newell's Old Boys before moving to Barcelona's youth side at the age of 13.

Messi, who has just renewed his contract with the Catalan giants until 2018, admits he expects to head back to South America later in his career.

"I don't know how long it will take but I will return to Newell's," he said to ESPN's Spanish language channel.

"I want to play Argentine football because I know what it means to my country.

"The truth is that I don't know what will happen tomorrow. I do not know how long I could play but it's what I want."
