Thiago Silva: Has no regrets at having chosen Paris over Barcelona

The Brazil international was offered the chance to head for Spain rather than France in the summer of 2012, with AC Milan prepared to listen to big-money offers.

Silva makes no secret of the fact that he has always dreamt of playing at Camp Nou, but claims he turned down two approaches from Barca in favour of moving to Paris.

He openly admits that money was a major factor in his decision, but has no regrets at having chosen Ligue 1 over La Liga.

Silva told The Guardian: "It was a difficult decision to say no twice to Barcelona. It was never a secret that I have admired them since I was a kid and that I always wished I could play for Barcelona.

"But life is made of hard decisions that sometimes go against what you dream of.

"I heard people saying I was just thinking of the money, but they forget we have families to feed. Why would I accept to earn less money to play for Barcelona? Why are players the ones supposed to sacrifice themselves?

"Besides, PSG offered me also an opportunity for a new challenge and the club are trailing the right path."

Silva now forms part of an ambitious project at Parc des Princes - which Edinson Cavani and Marquinhos have been added to this summer - but the Samba centre-half admits he would have liked to see another much-touted piece of transfer business pushed through.

On a certain Manchester United striker, who netted for England in a 2-2 draw with Brazil back in June, Silva said: "Wayne Rooney would have been great to play with.

"He is one of the best strikers in the world and this is also a guy who has scored against me every time I've played him. That goal at the Maracana still irks me."

I

expect Pulis to have a nice Christmas dinner with his family- probably all sitting around the table wearing Christmas themed baseball caps, before he gets the call. Realistically he could end up at any number of clubs, it'll be interesting to see which club folds first.

A

s a Liverpool fan, I personally hate Palace. My pick would probably be Arsenal, which is funny because it seems the vast majority of their own fans don't even like them right now.
