La Liga weekend preview

Villarreal captain Bruno Soriano hopes his side will prove they can compete with the Primera Division on Saturday when they take on Real Madrid - and possibly the world's most expensive player in Gareth Bale.

Gareth Bale: Could make his Real Madrid debut this weekend

The Yellow Submarine have so far made an impressive return to the Spanish top flight following their promotion in June, winning all three of their games to date by seeing off fellow newly-promoted side Almeria as well as Real Valladolid and Osasuna.

Saturday's home contest certainly presents their toughest fixture yet, whether forward Bale - the visitors' world transfer record-breaking summer recruit, who made his first appearance of the season when he came off the bench for Wales on Tuesday - gets his Real Madrid debut or not.

But Bruno has no doubt it is one to savour.

The midfielder, quoted on the club's official website, said: "It's an opportunity to show that we can compete with anyone and that we can fight with a team like Madrid.

"We know it's a tough game and that we are facing very tough opponents, but that does not mean that we do not think about winning.

"Madrid are back (at the Estadio El Madrigal) and we are very excited about being able to play this game and show that we can make things right and even seek victory.

"Last year we dreamed about playing against these teams, and now that time has come and we want to make a great game."

He added: "Going into this game with nine points gives us great peace of mind - we can approach this game with the good feelings we have after three victories."

Real, last season's runners-up, also have maximum points from three games, as do defending champions Barcelona, who currently top the table and host Sevilla on Saturday.

The Andalusian outfit have taken only two points from their first three matches and a trip to Barca would hardly appear ideal for them at this time.

But Sevilla winger Jairo Samperio told reporters: "It is one of the most difficult games in the league, but we're very excited and eager to get something positive.

"It is normal when results do not come - maybe there has been a little nervousness.

"We must be calm. It is a brand new team and you have to adapt. I believe that this week we have had enough time to work on concepts.

"The team is looking forward to the next game to prove that things are going well. Once we start winning games things will go up".

The other side with a 100% record so far this term, Atletico Madrid, are also in action on Saturday when they entertain Almeria, while Real Sociedad travel to Levante.

On Sunday, Granada play Espanyol at home, Osasuna are at Getafe, Rayo Vallecano go to Malaga and Valencia make the journey to Real Betis.

Then Monday's two fixtures see Elche face Real Valladolid at the Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero and Athletic Bilbao take on Celta Vigo at San Mames.
