La Liga Free Transfer XI

Revista de La Liga selected a Free Transfer XI of players who can now sign for another club and it included some of Spanish football's star names - two of which could be heading to Manchester City.

You can see the team above, but read on to see which players our pundits would make a move for and then use the comments box below to let us know which ones you'd like to see YOUR team sign.

Victor Valdes - Barcelona

Guillem Balague: Victor Valdes has got a contract and everything is written with Monaco, it's there for him to sign. But Manchester City want him as well. He doesn't want to talk to City until after the Champions League [tie between Barcelona and City], so then it will be a decision between those two clubs. Marc-André ter Stegen of Borussia Mönchengladbach is certainly going to be his replacement at Barcelona. Who will be another goalkeeper they may need? Pepe Reina perhaps...

Xabi Alonso - Real Madrid

Guillem Balague: Xabi Alonso hasn't met Real Madrid for a year and he doesn't want to meet them, which suggests he's looking for an option. He wants to come to the Premier League, I'm convinced about that, but not Liverpool. He's had an offer from PSG, I think he's got an offer from City as well. The problem is Real Madrid are not willing to match the sign-on fee others are willing to pay, like perhaps 10m from City and PSG as well, and adding to that the very big contracts they are going to offer him. Real Madrid is willing to match those contracts but not the signing-on fee.

Javi Guerra - Valladolid

Scott Minto: Pound for pound I'd wonder whether Javi Guerra at Valladolid is a very good signing. He's got 11 goals in a struggling side, you'd have thought he wouldn't be massive in terms of wages, he's not tall but a decent headerer of the ball, he's not lightning quick but he's sharp and he's very clever.

Guillem Balague: In the two seasons he played in the second division before coming up two years ago, he was the best goalscorer at Valladolid and in the division. You have a regular goalscorer there.

Albert Ferrer's picks

Albert Ferrer: In this team the first option would be Xabi Alonso. Then you have some interesting players. Martin Montoya of Barcelona is a very good right-back. For me, Salva Sevilla at Real Betis is a player I like a lot behind the striker who has good quality, a good last pass and can score goals. So, I'd go for those three players.

e made his power play to try and get Sheikhy to raise his wages or trade him to PSG. PSG were probably not interested and he is stuck with no cake and no vacation. @Jay_D> Surely you jest about FFP being real, right? All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
