La Liga Monday

Monday's La Liga offering on Sky Sports Xtra features top-four rivals Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao.

Last Updated: 18/03/14 at 08:20

Bilbao - who drew 1-1 with Valencia last time out - are in the box seat to secure fourth place in La Liga and with a spot in the Champions League qualifications stage next season.

They are seven points clear of Villarreal and, seemingly, looking forward to playing with Europe's best next season.

However, Villarreal, who suffered a 2-0 reverse against Granada in their last match, can strike a decisive blow to Bilbao's advantage, at the same time as undermining their confidence, to intensify the fight for fourth place.

Villarreal will be hoping to make the most of their home advantage on Monday night.

So you can see whether they can turn over their top-four rivals from 8.55pm on our online channel on Monday evening.

There will be plenty of treats for you to enjoy before and after that clash, too, including highlights of Real Madrid and Barcelona's weekend encounters.

LA LIGA MONDAY SCHEDULE

7pm - Malaga v Real Madrid Highlights

7.45pm - Barcelona v Osasuna Highlights

8.30pm - Preview of Villarreal v Athletic Bilbao

8.55-11pm - Villarreal v Athletic Bilbao (plus goals from the weekend's live games with Jon and Terry)

11pm - La Liga Weekly

Highlights of Villarreal v Athletic Bilbao plus goals from the live games over the weekend will be available Tuesday morning for .com and iPad.

e was right to leave, but not just because of the money City were coming into. If I remember rightly he had a reasonable amount of chances to shine at City, but he never passed the bloody ball. Loads of aimless dribbles and 40 yard shots and not much else. I would say that if he had learnt to be a bit more of a team player he may have done better at City.
