Gervinho: Enjoying playing in Italy

The Ivory Coast forward switched from the Emirates for an undisclosed fee after finding first-team football hard to come by with the Gunners last season.

Since his switch to Roma, he has settled in well and notched three goals in the last two games, including a brace against Bologna last time, as Rudi Garcia's side maintained their perfect start to their Serie A campaign.

And Gervinho is happy to be back playing under Garcia, after the pair were together at Lille before he joined Arsenal.

In comments reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, Gervinho is quoted as saying: "Surely, I had more affinity with Garcia than I had with Wenger.

"There is faith from everyone and we have started in a good way. My goals? My worry wasn't to score but to adapt myself to the project and let the group know me."

Regarding playing against Inter Milan next time, he added: "We know it will be a difficult game but we want to beat them too to arrive serene to the international break."

Confidence

Garcia appreciates the opportunities Gervinho creates for the team, even though some lead to nothing, and says he is a better player than when they last worked together at Lille.

Garcia told Sky Sport Italia: "He is a lad who needs confidence and we must understand that opportunities he creates don't exist without him there.

"He can get some wrong, but I prefer to have him there because I know he'll create those opportunities.

"Gervinho has more experience now, is happy with his Roma team-mates and it's easier for him to play with such talented players by his side."
