The Ligurian outfit have been handed a 30,000 euro (£26,200) fine for the actions of certain fans during Friday night's 2-0 home defeat to AC Milan.

A statement published on the Lega's official website read: "A fine of 30,000 euros to Genoa for directing chants containing racially discriminatory language to a player of the opposing team in the 25th minute, for shining a laser at players of the opposing team and for throwing coins and lighters at a referee's assistant and the opposing goalkeeper in the 75th minute."

The Lega did not specify which Milan player had been the target of racial abuse, although the introduction of striker Mario Balotelli as a 25th-minute substitute may have drawn unwelcome attention from the home fans.

The Italy international has been the victim of racial abuse on multiple occasions since returning to the San Siro in January, with Inter Milan receiving a 50,000 euro (£43,700) fine for their supporters' actions in February's Milan derby.

The 22-year-old was also the subject of racist chanting from Inter fans in a league game against Chievo and was referred to as "the family's little n****" by Milan vice-president Paolo Berlusconi on the eve of his Rossoneri debut.

Lazio, Juventus and Palermo also received hefty fines from the Lega's disciplinary committee for the contentious behaviour of several supporters during this weekend's fixtures.

The Biancocelesti were fined 10,000 euros as four banners were unfurled insulting UEFA president Michel Platini during Sunday's home defeat to Fiorentina.

Platini's governing body have ordered the capital club to play two Europa League games behind closed doors due to persistent trouble among Lazio's supporters.

Juventus, who hosted Catania, were fined 4,000 euros as several fans sang insulting refrains about an unnamed player from another unnamed club, while Palermo were handed the same punishment after a bottle was thrown on to the Renzo Barbera pitch during a home defeat to Siena.

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
