Robinho: Eyes on third spot

Milan's 4-0 win at Pescara yesterday left them four points clear of Fiorentina with just two games to play, meaning another three-point haul this weekend would wrap up Champions League qualification.

"We got three important points yesterday and we have to keep going now," Robinho, who has started just 10 league games and scored only twice this season, told the Milan Channel.

"Our objective is third place and we hope to get it on Sunday. We played well in Pescara and we deserved to win. I feel good and I hope to do well in next season's Champions League.

"It would be nice to celebrate third place with our won fans and we hope it'll be a good Sunday.

"It'll be important next season to have (January signing Mario) Balotelli from the start."

The former Manchester City striker has impressed since his return to Italy, with 11 goals in 11 games in the league and he will be confident of adding to that tally against Roma, who have the second-worst defensive record in the division.

The capital club still have plenty to play for, though, with their shock home defeat to Chievo in midweek leaving them two points off a Europa League spot.

At the other end of the table, Palermo striker Fabrizio Miccoli admits the game is almost up in their fight against the drop.

The Sicilians, third from bottom, travel to Fiorentina on Sunday four points adrift of safety.

Palermo lost 3-2 to Udinese on Wednesday and Miccoli told Sky television: "We thought we could do it.

"Now we just have to see what happens in the next two games. If somebody had told me I'd go down with Palermo, I wouldn't have believed it, yet it's happening."

Genoa are one place above Palermo and know a win at home to Inter Milan, whose top-five hopes are over, would guarantee survival.

On Saturday, champions Juventus host Cagliari looking to make it 10 straight league wins, while the league's bottom side, already-relegated Pescara, head to Catania.

On Sunday, anything other than victory for second-bottom Siena at second-placed Napoli will confirm their relegation and even a win may not be enough to delay the seemingly inevitable.

Elsewhere, Europa League hopefuls Lazio welcome Sampdoria, Parma host Bologna, Chievo entertain Torino and Udinese are at home to Atalanta.

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
