Juventus: Facing Udinese

Juventus: Facing Udinese

Having endured a disappointing spell in the European competition, the Turin giants beat FC Copenhagen 3-1 on Wednesday for their first success in Group B.

The result in Turin left Juve second in the pool and needing just a draw from their final group game at Galatasaray to progress to the knockout round of Europe's elite club competition.

"This is a very important win for us," Juventus coach Antonio Conte said to Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We will go to Turkey to face Galatasaray knowing that destiny is in our hands.

"We will not make calculations but rather go there determined to take three points."

Things are also looking good for Conte's side in Italy. Juve are riding a five-match winning streak in Serie A heading into Sunday's game at Udinese.

The Italian champions won 2-0 at Livorno last weekend to leapfrog Roma at the top of the table.

Roma trail one point behind Juve after last weekend's goalless result to Cagliari, their third straight draw.

The Eternal City giants are the only unbeaten team in Italy's top flight and travel to Bergamo to face Atalanta on Sunday.

Third-place Napoli, meanwhile, lost 1-0 at Parma before falling 3-1 at Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in midweek.

Napoli take on Lazio in Rome on Monday knowing that a defeat could see Inter Milan overtake them in the standings.

Inter are two points behind Napoli and square off against Sampdoria at the San Siro on Sunday. Samp are coached by former Inter Milan player Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Fiorentina will be eager to bounce back from last weekend's surprising defeat at Udinese with victory over Hellas Verona.

The result in Udine was Fiorentina's third loss of the campaign and saw them drop to fifth place.

AC Milan hope Tuesday's 3-1 Champions League triumph at Celtic will be a turning point for their season.

The victory in Scotland ended a seven-match winless run for the Rossoneri and eased the pressure on coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Milan have endured their worst start to the campaign in three decades and last weekend's 1-1 draw against Genoa saw them fall to 13th place. The Rossoneri take on bottom-side Catania in Sicily on Sunday.

Genoa are on a four-match unbeaten run ahead of their home game against Torino. The Grifoni's good run of form has seen them climb to seventh position.

Livorno hope to clinch their first ever win against Chievo when the two sides meet in Verona this weekend.

The Leghorn outfit have lost eight of their nine previous meetings with the Flying Donkeys.

Cagliari held high-flyers Roma to a goalless result on Monday and the Sardinian outfit will be looking for a similar performance when they host Sassuolo next.

Bologna are desperate to recover captain Alessandro Diamanti in time for Saturday's Emilia-Romagna derby at Parma.

Diamanti, who has scored three goals for the Rossoblu this season, is doubtful with flu symptoms.

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

Wenger hails important win

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
