Pablo Armero: Hoping to have caught the eye while on World Cup duty

The 27-year-old full-back saw out the 2013/14 campaign on loan at West Ham United after being deemed surplus to requirements by Rafa Benitez.

No permanent move to Upton Park has been discussed and Udinese have taken up the option of reacquiring his rights from Napoli.

Armero, though, hopes that his performances at the World Cup will have sparked interest and that he will be climbing up the Serie A ladder before the summer is out.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: “I’ve never been liked by coach Rafa Benitez. I don’t know the reason why.

“I was sure that I would remain there and I that I would have signed permanently at Napoli. I expected a call from Napoli officials.

“Now my dream is to play for a big side in Italy.

“Milan, Inter and Juventus always need players with my characteristics.”

Meanwhile, Napoli have completed the signing of French defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Genk on a five-year contract.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m really happy to have joined Napoli, an important club with a big project.

“I’m ready for this adventure. I’m looking forward to starting with my new team-mates and taking in the emotion of playing at the San Paolo Stadium.”

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
