Bayern clinched their 22nd title quicker than anyone before them thanks to a 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt which gave them a 20-point cushion at the top after 28 games.

That achievement has earned respect and recognition from the rest of the league, who could hardly compete this season.

"That's an incredible season," said the coach of the defending champions Borussia Dortmund, Jurgen Klopp.

"It could possibly be the most unbelievable season in the history of football.

"I don't know if there has ever been a champion in any other country with so many points that Bayern are probably going to have this year.

"It was pretty tough for us last season to get 81 points (which was a league record), yet Bayern have made it look easy.

"Particular congratulations to Jupp (Heynckes). He's an extraordinary colleague and a fantastic coach. What a fantastic season."

Bayer Leverkusen are the only side to have beaten Bayern all season, something which they can be proud of, according to top scorer Stefan Kiessling.

"We are the only ones to have beaten them, which is amazing," said the Germany international. "It's certainly impressive the way they have won their matches."

Heynckes, who has now won the Bundesliga three times as a coach after four titles as a player, said the achievement ranked up there among his best.

"My first title as a player was the most emotional one I ever experienced, but this is also a fantastic moment," he told Sky television.

"The players have worked hard all year for this. To win the title after 28 matches is extraordinary.

"We can now be confident that we can achieve something in the Champions League too."

Bayern head to Turin to face Juventus on Wednesday with a spring in their step after sealing the title, and with a 2-0 advantage to defend from the first leg.
