The 28-year-old striker, who scored 75 league goals in four seasons with Bayern, arrived in Florence on Monday morning before passing a medical and putting pen to paper on a reported four-year contract with the Serie A club.

Gomez was the Bundesliga's top goalscorer in 2011, notching 28 times, but after missing the first part of the 2012-13 season due to injury he struggled to return to the Bayern first team and found himself behind Mario Mandzukic in the pecking order.

The Germany international has admitted incoming Bayern manager Guardiola helped him choose his next destination when he realised his time in Munich had come to an end.

Addressing reporters through a translator before taking to the Artemio Franchi pitch to greet Viola fans, he said: "I was eager to take on a new challenge after winning everything with Bayern.

"Guardiola also recommended Fiorentina to me because they play attractive, attacking football. He also said really good things about (Viola coach Vincenzo) Montella.

"The city is fantastic and was a factor in my choice but the thing that matters most to me is the football. I wanted for nothing at Bayern, but the most important thing was always playing as much as I could.

"My dream is to win something here in Italy and I won't talk about scoring a specific number of goals. I just want to do the best I can."

Gomez, who cost Fiorentina a reported 15.5million euros, is expected to form a three-man trident alongside Giuseppe Rossi and Stevan Jovetic - should the in-demand Montenegrin remain in Tuscany.

The Viola also boast an impressive range of creative options in a midfield that includes Adem Ljajic, Borja Valero, Alberto Aquilani and newly-signed veteran Massimo Ambrosini.

All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
