Sven Bender: Looks on during the Nurnberg draw at the weekend

The Westphalians were beaten 2-1 by Napoli in their Champions League opener a week ago while their 100% Bundesliga record was brought to an end by Nurnberg at the weekend.

They face 1860 at the Allianz Arena keen to return to winning ways, and for midfielder Sven Bender, it will be a poignant return to his first professional club.

"It's a special game in that I am facing my ex-club, otherwise it's a game like any other which we want to win because we want to go through," Bender said. "That is our aim.

"I've never played my former club before, and they were my only other club as a professional so it's going to be a highlight for me and I'm looking forward to it."

The Allianz Arena will be full on consecutive nights this week with Bayern hosting Hannover on Wednesday, but it is not since the 2005/06 season that the Lions have played in front of a full house.

"I'm delighted for them because the fans have deserved a game like this," Bender said in an interview with the German Football Association website. "I don't know if that will be an advantage for them, though.

"We're used to it, but it doesn't make any difference to us how many people are there. We want to win the game and will be fully focused on doing so."

On Wednesday, Hannover return to Munich for the second time in 10 days, hoping for a better outcome compared to their last visit when they meet the DFB-Pokal holders.

Mirko Slomka's men were beaten 2-0 in the Bundesliga, although they frustrated their hosts for 45 minutes and will look to do the same again over the full 90 minutes, plus extra-time if required.

Elsewhere, Freiburg and Stuttgart meet in a Baden-Wurttemberg derby with the struggling hosts looking for their second win of the season.

There are some tough fixtures for other top-flight teams.

Augsburg head to third-division high-flyers Preussen Munster while Bayer Leverkusen will have their work cut out at Arminia Bielefeld.

Crisis club Hamburg host Greuther Furth, who currently top the second division, while Mainz face Cologne.

On Wednesday, Eintracht Frankfurt entertain Bochum and Hertha Berlin head to Kaiserslautern and Schalke travel south to Darmstadt.

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
