Julian Green: Makes loan move to Hamburg

The 19-year-old made a name for himself at the World Cup this summer by becoming the USA's all-time youngest goalscorer at a World Cup, but opportunities at club level remained limited.

With Robert Lewandowski and Claudio Pizarro ahead of him in the pecking order he has opted for a move to Hamburg where he can expect to feature more frequently this season.

Green, who was born in Florida but grew up in Bavaria and represented Germany at youth level before opting to represent the USA, has yet to make his Bundesliga debut, although he did impress during pre-season last year and debuted in the Champions League last year.

He will link up with his new team-mates next week since he is on international duty with the USA this week.
