Xavi: Battling to be fit for Champions League clash

The Spain international sustained a tear in his left hamstring late in Barca's 1-1 draw at Valencia on Sunday night, and has already been ruled out of his country's friendly with Uruguay on Wednesday.

The Catalan club have confirmed he will also miss the Primera Division leaders' matches with Getafe and Granada, but remain hopeful he will be fit to face Milan in the first leg of their last-16 tie at the San Siro on February 20.

A club statement read: "If his recovery goes as planned, he'll be back for the Champions League game against Milan set for 20th of this month."

Xavi has made 33 appearances this season and scored six goals.
