Samir Nasri: Cursed Manchester City's defeat in the first leg

City's Champions League campaign was ended by Barcelona on Wednesday as they slipped to a 4-1 aggregate defeat after a 2-1 loss at the Nou Camp.

Manuel Pellegrini's men broke new ground in the competition, but could not contain Barca's brilliance and Vincent Kompany's late equaliser proved a consolation after Pablo Zabaleta's sending off.

Nasri admits the 2-0 defeat in the first leg had effectively ended City's hopes and is confident the club will emerge stronger after this frustrating experience.

"I think we played a good game. I think we did everything we could," said the French playmaker.

"We can have regrets about the first leg - it is in the first leg we lost it - but here we did everything.

"I think this defeat is going to be good for us in the future.

"This is where you get experience and get much stronger as a team and a group. Next year our target is to be up there with the best."

City were also eliminated from the FA Cup at the weekend and can turn their attention to the Premier League, where they lie nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea, with three games in hand.

Nasri has urged his team-mates to shrug off their cup disappointment and mount a late title charge in the closing weeks.

"We don't have a choice. Now our target is to win the league," he said.

"I think here we showed we have the quality to be up there with the best teams in Europe.

"We came here to play. I don't think you are going to see that many teams come to Camp Nou and have that much possession, that many attempts on target.

"It is a good thing for us. It is important now to finish the season well and win the league."

he singular most disappointing aspect of the current malaise that Liverpool are experiencing is that F365 are not able to use the picture of Rodgers giving his troll smile. Brendan does a helluva good Hard Done By range though, especially in the rain, in fact he looks so forlorn you just want to say to the opposition Stop It, You're Killing Him!

n all seriousness the attitude of some of these commenters is very disappointing. I didn't realise F365's readership was so dumb, I've always thought of you all as relatively well informed. Thanks for showing me the light.

ame at 0-0 and missed loads of chances. Did he think it was agiven that Arsenal would win. Don't understand the shock from him. Put the ball in the net. They didn't and couldn't do that so they lost when utd could do that. Simple really. No need to be shocked.

It's a Mailbox many will have been waiting. Brendan Rodgers gets a little bit of a stick, but there is at least praise for Manchester United,Van Gaal, Palace and Tottenham...

Oh Arsenal. Why Oh Why Oh Effing Why?

We have plenty of fallout from Arsenal's latest display of outrageous incompetence, plus the question of why every team seems to be getting worse. Plus, another Garcia ghost goal...
