Europe produced a sensational clean sweep in the afternoon fourballs in Colorado to build a commanding five-point lead ahead of the final day's singles matches.

Lotte Neumann's team began the day 5-3 up but saw their lead trimmed to 6.5-5.5 after the morning foursomes. Europe's only victory came from Caroline Hedwall and Anna Nordqvist, who produced an incredible hole-in-hole.

But in the afternoon Europe stormed ahead, with five of their six rookies playing key roles, and they are now insight of a first Cup win on American soil. They lead 10.5-5.5 and need just 3.5 points from Sunday's singles to retain the Cup and four points to secure a historic outright win.

"It was probably the best day of European golf in the Solheim Cup," Davies told Sky Sports. "You can't beat that - a white wash in the fourball and a decent morning to boot."

She continued: "You literally could not have predicted this one. I don't think anyone saw this coming. The way the Europeans played was fantastic. I think we have played better this week, we've putted better. The putt at the last has sealed a five-point lead - it seems incredible even saying it."

Impossible

The day ended in on a huge high for the Europeans as Karine Icher and Beatriz Recari won the final fourball match of the day with Icher holding a monster putt from off the green to deny the Americans a half.

Davies said that US captain Meg Mellon now has a massive challenge to try to overturn the situation, but the former Solheim Cup player believes it is a task that is now beyond the Americans.

"Meg is going to have to load the top of the American team, so for a while tomorrow I think it will look like they are having a bit of a charge but it is impossible - surely," Davies said. "They (Europe) only need three and a half to retain the Cup but I think they might get six or seven and win it comfortably."

Outplayed

Fellow pundit Christina Kim admitted Europe deserve their strong advantage after completely outplaying their opponents over the past few days.

"Eleven out of the 12 girls play in the States so we all know that they are world class players but it is amazing to see how strong they played," she said.

"They just outplayed the Americans. They putted better, were better off the tee, better shots into these greens and if you were to take the top four MVPs there would not be any red, white and blue in there."

I

expect Pulis to have a nice Christmas dinner with his family- probably all sitting around the table wearing Christmas themed baseball caps, before he gets the call. Realistically he could end up at any number of clubs, it'll be interesting to see which club folds first.

s a Liverpool fan, I personally hate Palace. My pick would probably be Arsenal, which is funny because it seems the vast majority of their own fans don't even like them right now.
