Durham's dynamos

Three titles in six years.

That's Durham's record in County Championship Division One after the North East outfit beat Yorkshire by 25 points to win the four-day crown in 2013 and mirror their triumphs in 2008 and 2009.

Dominic Cork - who backed Durham to get relegated at the beginning of the campaign -popped into the Sky Sports News studio on Monday morning to name some of the players he believes were key to the Chester-le-street squad's success.

Plus, the former England, Derbyshire, and Hampshire all-rounder gave his take on Lancashire's acquisition of England one-day gloveman Jos Buttler, who has joined the Old Trafford side from Somerset...

GRAHAM ONIONS

"I think a few people tipped Durham to get relegated with what they had but they did a fantastic job and were worthy winners for quite a few factors; team spirit was a big thing but they also had players who consistently performed in the four-day game - and no-one better than Onions.

"He got 70 wickets in 12 games and what he does well is that he is able to make batsmen play; he bowls wicket to wicket, and has the pace and the ability to swing the ball both ways, which is why I am surprised he did not make the Ashes squad as back-up to James Anderson."

SCOTT BORTHWICK AND CHRIS RUSHWORTH

"What Borthwick (pictured) has done well is that since he first got picked for England as a leg-spinner he has added another string to his bow. He was an all-rounder batting at seven or eight but with Michael Di Venuto leaving Durham he has stood up against the new ball and scored runs at the top of the order.

"I remember watching him early on in a game at Edgbaston where Durham were absolutely trounced and he scored a tremendous hundred under pressure, and he ended the season with over 1000 runs and nearly 30 wickets.

"Rushworth, meanwhile, was released in 2006 by Durham and went to sell satellite dishes and also worked in a call centre, but he has come back and took 54 wickets at 22.26 this season. That shows what [coach] Geoff Cook has got together and his heart attack during the season really galvanised the team."

LANCASHIRE NEW BOY JOS BUTTLER

"Buttler is working hard on his keeping ability and I think one of the reasons he left Somerset was to play as a wicketkeeper because Somerset are sticking with Craig Kiewsetter. Lancashire wanted someone who can keep but also bat and Buttler is devastating with the bat.

"Lancashire are back in County Championship Division One now and have a great ground in the Emirates Old Trafford and I think they will be a difficult team to beat next year."

was there, it was embarrassing - the team looked totally unbalanced from the off, the defence was woeful and when Mikel came off injured it got even worse with nobody in front of them. Up front on several occasions we had opportunities and nobody would shoot - it was a complete farse! On the back of Salah's performance I'm glad there is talk of getting shot...

reat to see Tommy Rosicky getting some love. A wonderful player. Such a pity we lost so long to injury. I was so excited when we signed him, this resurgence only makes the absences seem more of a lost opportunity.
