Roy Hodgson: Considering ways to improve England's penalty shoot-out record

England have won just one shoot-out in a World Cup or European Championship and Hodgson is convinced they need to consider all possibilities if they are to improve on that record.

"Of course you get players to practise, we practise as much as any other team. There are lots of things to think about," he said.

"We are involved at the moment, reviewing if there are more things we can do. I have not closed any doors.

"Every day you get ideas from psychologists, people who believe it is all in the mind. So, as a result, we do not dismiss anything.

"What worries me is the more we talk about it and the more we concern ourselves we pile even more pressure on our players.

"We (England supporters) hit them with, 'You didn't do it this time and you didn't do it the time before'. So they go into it, now, with, 'We don't do this, we are no good at it'.

"How do I manage to erase all that negativity from the last three or four penalty shoot-outs before we go into the next one?"

e have the personnel. The trick is keeping them fit. Carrick and Blind have missed large chunks of the season, while the defence has been one muddled mess of intermittent stooges, all coming and going at various intervals thus far. We may be just short of title winning quality, but we're half way through. An injury crisis to either of the top two could change things. Optimistic, yes, but not unrealistic.

arish is the man to blame for this shambles. Pulis must be chuckling into his left over turkey sandwich. I pray this doesn't mean the Neil Warnock media machine will kick in now and he'll be back on the telly box.

e almost found a new way to lose, just when I thought it was getting boring Giroud does that. Although Arsenal are deservedly called 'soft' the entire midfield is out injured. Still must admit MU are managing to win despite a similar raft of absentees. Think the Gunners have good players but poorly coached.
