The centre-back has fallen out of contention at club level and his lack of playing time is risking his hopes of a place at Brazil 2014, if England qualify.

Lescott's limited chances with City has led to speculation he could leave in the summer and the defender has indicated he wants to resolve the situation.

He said in the Daily Star when questioned about his chances of going to the World Cup: "Sitting here now, if you'd asked me that last year then I'd have said, 'yeah, pretty good'.

"But you don't know. If I can play more regularly at club level, then I think I'll be there. Towards the end of the season, I'll address that.

"But for now, I'm fully focused on England."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
