Ticket snub for England boss

England boss Roy Hodgson endured a miserable day at Anfield when he turned up to watch former club Liverpool play Manchester United.

Hodgson was unhappy to discover he had not been offered the courtesy of a ticket to the directors' lounge - as would be customary for an England manager.

And he appeared to be less than impressed to discover his seat for the game was in a row he believed was reserved for scouts rather than in the main area of the directors' box.

Liverpool later claimed this was not the case and ex-England boss Fabio Capello had sat in exactly the same place when he visited Anfield.

However, the Reds did acknowledge a ticketing mistake, which a club official apologised to Hodgson directly for at half-time.

Hodgson's mood is unlikely to have lightened with the news that four players from the north-west rivals are likely to miss the World Cup qualifiers with Moldova and Ukraine in the coming days.

United striker Wayne Rooney has already been ruled out after missing the Merseyside clash with a head injury sustained in training.

Team-mate Phil Jones was substituted at Anfiled after landing awkwardly following an aerial challenge and Liverpool defender Glen Johnson left the ground on crutches.

Reds striker Daniel Sturridge, who scored the only goal of the game, is a doubt with a groin injury.

I

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
