Ben Turner: Catching the eye of England scouts

The 6ft 4ins central defender has enjoyed a superb start to the season with Cardiff, impressing in the games against top trio Manchester City, Tottenham and Everton this term.

Turner's form has not gone unnoticed with the 25-year-old now appearing on Roy Hodgson's radar with the England boss short of options in central defence.

Turner has represented England at Under-19 level and he rejected the chance to pledge his international allegiance to Wales last year after catching the eye of Wales boss Chris Coleman.

The towering defender, who scored in the 2012 Carling Cup final against Liverpool, has established himself as a key man in the Cardiff side since his arrival from Coventry in the summer of 2011, playing an instrumental role in their successful promotion to the Premier League last season.

Hodgson has shown he is not afraid to give call-ups to players in form and he and his coaching staff are expected to maintain a watching brief over Turner during the next few weeks.
