Ben Foster: Hoping to be part of England's World Cup plans

West Bromwich Albion shot-stopper Foster is hoping to be included in Roy Hodgson's 23-man squad travelling to the World Cup finals this summer.

If fit, Hart will also be expected to claim a seat on the plane to Brazil.

The pair will then provide direct competition to one another for a starting berth, with Foster admitting that he will be doing all he can to get the nod.

He is, however, prepared to acknowledge that Hart - back to his best after being dropped by City earlier in the campaign - will be crucial to the England cause as they chase international glory.

Foster, who has six caps for his country, said in the Daily Mirrior: "I don't want to sit on the bench, it's boring. I want to play every game I am involved in.

"But you've got to look at Joe Hart. It was a big thing for him to be left out of the City team.

"But he's come back and looks as fresh as a daisy. It's good to have that back. He is a huge asset for the England team.

"I get to see him in training with England. He's one of the best keepers I've ever trained with.

"I know what he's capable of and I think he should start in the World Cup. As long as he keeps his performances up high then he'll be a huge benefit to us in Brazil.

"Don't get me wrong, I want to play but I've got to be realistic."

heyremind me of Utd's treble winning side. Swashbuckling and risk prone. We ha Jaap Stam to paper over the cracks at the back though. Not sure they have their Jaap yet.

he solution is to not feel sorry for any of Jabba, Gold or Sullivan. They're all deeply unpleasant and all deserve each other. If only West Ham would sign Barton and Suarez then no one would ever need to despise any other club.
