Scotland 'planning for Bale'

Scotland assistant manager Mark McGhee admits Scotland are working on a plan to deal with Wales ace Gareth Bale

Last Updated: 20/03/13 at 18:28 Post Comment

Scotland take on Wales on Friday at Hampden Park knowing in-form Bale will pose a massive threat to the home side's chances of getting a much-needed victory.

Bale scored both goals in Wales's 2-1 win over Scotland in October and the winger has been in red-hot form for Tottenham for the last few months.

McGhee admits they will look to combat the threat of Bale and hopes Scotland can nullify his influence.

"I have watched a lot of him recently and obviously we realise he's a huge threat," McGhee told Sky Sports News.

"I think any management team in the world at this moment in time coming up against Gareth Bale would give him serious consideration and of course we will do that and we will have a plan to deal with him as best as we possibly can.

"But I think we also feel that we are at home, it's a World Cup qualifier and we feel that by exerting our influence on the game then possibly that can undermine his chances of being a big influence on the game.

"I've seen teams who have dealt with Bale's quality. I don't think we will be man marking him."
