Snodgrass' forward thinking

Robert Snodgrass insists Scotland have the players to fill Kenny Miller's boots for the World Cup qualifiers against Belgium and Macedonia.

The Vancouver Whitecaps forward announced his retirement from international football following the 3-2 defeat to England last month, having scored 18 times in 69 appearances for his country.

Gordon Strachan has Leigh Griffiths, Jordan Rhodes, Jamie Mackie and Ross McCormack at his disposal for Friday's Sky Live clash against Belgium - more than enough firepower, according to Snodgrass.

"I see these boys do it every time we meet up, their finishing is unbelievable. Jordan Rhodes, his record speaks for itself," the Norwich midfielder told Sky Sports News.

"I've seen Leigh Griffiths do it since he was 16 and Steven Fletcher's record in the Premier League is unbelievable so we've got players in the side that can score goals.

"I've played with Ross McCormack and I think he's one of the best players I've played with. The manager will be saying 'can we get the service to these boys' to see their finishing ability?

"I don't think we will see all of them at the one stage but whoever gets their chance, there is no doubt these boys can finish."

Scotland's shock 1-0 win in Zagreb in June - courtesy of Snodgrass' winner - allowed the Belgians to move three points clear of the Croats at the top of Group A.

"I have some crazy Belgians tweeting me, telling me I am a hero. I didn't realise that," he added. "But you can easily become the villain.

"The eyes are on the prize and we have a massive game against a very good side

with some top talent. So hopefully can build on the Croatia game."

Meanwhile, Allan McGregor has pulled out of the squad through injury. The Hull keeper was already out of the Belgium match through suspension, with Cardiff's David Marshall expected to deputise.
