The Scots are desperate to avoid finishing bottom of the group, as they prepare for Tuesday's match in Macedonia.

Croatia will come to Hampden in October for the last game of the campaign, but Griffiths is not looking beyond Skopje, as Scotland look to recover from Friday's 2-0 reverse to Belgium.

Griffiths said: "We want to get as far up the table as possible and finish the campaign strongly. We have only got two games left so hopefully we can get six points from them.

"We knew it would be a difficult game on Friday and we know it will be the same on Tuesday as well."

Meanwhile, Griffths admits he is happy with how his international career is developing after Gordon Strachan handed the Wolves ace his first caps against Croatia, England and Belgium.

Griffths added: "It was great to finally get my debut in Croatia and I managed to get on at Wembley and start on Friday as well, so I'm hoping that continues for a long time.

"I'm hoping to get game time, but that's up to the manager to decide if he wants to start with me or put me on the bench and I can have an impact from the bench,

"But whatever team he puts out, I'm sure we will do well."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
