McGregor returns for Scots

Gordon Strachan has named his 24-man squad for Scotland's final World Cup qualifier against Croatia at Hampden Park on October 15.

Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor returns from suspension but Norwich full-back Steven Whittaker misses out as he serves a ban.

Strachan is without Wigan's Shaun Maloney, who has a back injury, and Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher, who has been ruled out for four to six weeks with a dislocated shoulder.

Celtic winger James Forrest, who has had sciatica problems and a virus, is also absent despite coming off the bench during his team's Champions League defeat by Barcelona on Tuesday night.

Watford winger Ikechi Anya keeps his place in the squad following his goalscoring performance in the 2-1 win away to Macedonia and Rangers defender Lee Wallace is also included.

West Brom pair Graham Dorrans and James Morrison are also back after pulling out of the last two squads.

Scotland are currently fourth in Group A with eight points from nine games - three points adrift of Serbia in third place - but the Serbs have a far superior goal difference.

Squad: Gilks, Marshall, McGregor, Greer, Hanley, Hutton, Martin, Mulgrew, Wallace, Adam, Anya, Bannan, Brown, Bryson, Burke, Dorrans, Morrison, McArthur, Snodgrass, Boyd, Griffiths, McCormack, Naismith, Rhodes.

heyremind me of Utd's treble winning side. Swashbuckling and risk prone. We ha Jaap Stam to paper over the cracks at the back though. Not sure they have their Jaap yet.

he solution is to not feel sorry for any of Jabba, Gold or Sullivan. They're all deeply unpleasant and all deserve each other. If only West Ham would sign Barton and Suarez then no one would ever need to despise any other club.
