Gauld has been in sensational form this season and a number of clubs, including Celtic and Real Madrid, are said to be keeping tabs on the 17-year-old.

Coach Billy Stark has been boosted by a return to fitness of St Mirren's Kenny McLean and fellow midfielder Stuart Bannigan of Partick Thistle.

However, Stark must do without the services of Wigan midfielder Fraser Fyvie, currently on loan at Yeovil Town, who is suspended for the match on November 14 (7.30pm).

Scotland U21 squad: Jordan Archer (Spurs), Jonathan Henly (Reading), Christopher Kettings (Blackpool), Stuart Findlay (Celtic), Ryan Jack (Aberdeen), Fraser Kerr (Motherwell), Jordan McGhee (Hearts), Kevin McHattie (Hearts), Andrew Robertson (Dundee United), Stuart Armstrong (Dundee United), Stuart Bannigan (Partick Thistle), John Herron (Celtic), Lewis Macleod (Rangers), Dylan McGeouch (Celtic), Kenny McLean (St Mirren), Ryan Fraser (Bournemouth), Ryan Gauld (Dundee United), Daniel Handling (Hibernian), Stevie May (St Johnstone), Callum McGregor (Celtic), Callum Paterson (Hearts)
