Strachan: Planning shake-up for Norway friendly

The Scotland manager has been forced to shuffle his pack due to a spate of injuries and call-offs but insists he was already looking to freshen up his side and his tactics.

Strachan, who has lost the services of Charlie Mulgrew, Grant Hanley, Steven Fletcher, Ross McCormack and Matt Gilks, is using the final friendly of the year to check on the versatility of his team, and his coaching staff.

However, the former Celtic boss, who added Stuart Armstrong and Kris Boyd to his travelling party, is adamant the game will be more than a training exercise.

"We have been working on something a wee bit different," he said. "There will be change in personnel as well as a small change in what we are going to try.

"We have looked at something to bring a wee bit of freshness to it. We have used our time wisely, working on certain ways of doing things.

"Norway are a strong side, but the USA were big, big boys and we dealt with a lot of what they had.

"We will take Norway into consideration but I hope their manager understands that we are actually just going to look at what we are going to do.

"The stuff we have been doing in the last two days has been about what we are going to do with the ball."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
