Darron Gibson: Pleased to be back to face Germany

The Everton man failed to hold down a regular first-team place under previous manager Giovanni Trapattoni and refused a call-up for the clashes with Sweden and Austria.

Gibson, 25, has now returned to the squad ahead of Friday's trip to Germany and Tuesday's World Cup qualifying closer against Kazakhstan - and expressed his relief when interviewed at the training ground.

He said: "I felt I should have played back then and hopefully I'll get my chance on Friday to show what I can do.

"It was tough to stay away but I'm delighted to be back in. It feels like a fresh start at the moment.

"If there's someone else watching (who may take over) then it will be nice to impress him but it's Noel at the minute and we are going to go out and try and get the result for him.

"It's a very tough task but we're not going to go over there and lie down. We're going to go over there and try and get a result. Noel has been working on tactics with us so hopefully we can go there and make them work."

'Wow' Says The Mailbox In Unison. Wow Indeed.

There is understandably a great deal of reaction to Tuesday night's lunacy, but we have added thoughts on the anti-Ozil 'agenda' and Liverpool acting like they're big-time...
