Andy Reid: Back in the Ireland squad for the first time since November 2006

Reid has returned to the Ireland squad for World Cup qualifiers in Germany on Friday and against Kazakhstan in Dublin next Tuesday.

The 31-year-old won his last cap against San Marino in November 2006, when he scored in a 5-0 victory, before falling out of favour under former boss Giovanni Trapattoni.

And the former Charlton, Tottenham and Sunderland player is delighted to be involved again for his country following a good run of form with Forest.

Reid said: "After the break that I've had it's really, really good to be back amongst the group and preparing for an international game again, because I suppose there were probably times when I didn't think it might happen.

"I feel I've been playing really well, so I was in with an opportunity of being selected if it was being picked on merit and on performances.

"As I say, I feel I've been playing well."

Ireland v Kazakhstan is live on Sky Sports on Tuesday, 15 October

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
