El-Hadji Diouf: Current contract ends on Tuesday

Doncaster boss Dean Saunders will turn his attention to keeping El-Hadji Diouf at the Keepmoat Stadium following top-scorer Billy Sharp's departure to Southampton.

Rovers announced they had agreed an 18-month contract with Diouf in December, but the Senegal international has yet to pen the deal and his current short-term agreement with the npower Championship club is due to expire on Tuesday.

"We are trying to sort out a deal with Diouf," Saunders told the Yorkshire Post. "It's been on hold because of Billy's situation.

"He's got other offers, he's in demand. He is only 30 and he has won the African Player of the Year twice. Getting players to come to the club is a lot easier with him being here."

Saunders hopes the undisclosed fee received for Sharp's move to Saints, reported to be in the region of £2million, can be reinvested into his squad, but admitted Rovers' current boardroom turmoil - four directors quit the club last week - may hinder this ambition.

"I would like to think we have got some money we can put back into the team - but I understand the club has got a few problems behind-the-scenes financially," he added.

his is for the best, his hunger would be in serious question now after winning everything with us. A true Chelsea legend, up there with Osgood and Zola, come back and see us now and then Didier. And as Martin Tyler said on Saturday night....he is immortal at Chelsea. What a way to go out eh....Good luck big man wherever you land next.

ne of the many delights of the final few seconds of the season was seeing little Mike Owen with his trackie off and full replica kit on, getting ready to celebrate having contributed NOTHING all season. Would have been on a par with Terry's carry-on in Munich.
