Scott Sinclair: Backed for England spot

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers believes Leon Britton, Scott Sinclair and Nathan Dyer would flourish if they won call-ups for England.

The Swansea midfield trio could all be in line for shock England call-ups after Fabio Capello sent his assistant Stuart Pearce on a scouting mission to South Wales this week.

Pearce watched the trio during Swansea's match against Chelsea on Tuesday night as well as a training session on Monday.

England play the Netherlands in a friendly at Wembley later this month and all three players could be in line to be included in Capello's squad as he considers his options ahead of this summer's Euro 2012 finals.

Rodgers is happy that the performances of his players are being recognised and he has backed them to be a success if they do win international honours.

"We had Stuart Pearce down here during the week for a few days," admitted Rodgers.

"I know he was down specifically to watch training and Tuesday's game against Chelsea and to have a look at a number of our English players.

"That shows the esteem the players are being held in and talked about.

"I hope for Swansea City that continues. We have to wait and see if they get an England call-up. But I have said before that if our players are called up then they will adapt to that level."

his is for the best, his hunger would be in serious question now after winning everything with us. A true Chelsea legend, up there with Osgood and Zola, come back and see us now and then Didier. And as Martin Tyler said on Saturday night....he is immortal at Chelsea. What a way to go out eh....Good luck big man wherever you land next.

ne of the many delights of the final few seconds of the season was seeing little Mike Owen with his trackie off and full replica kit on, getting ready to celebrate having contributed NOTHING all season. Would have been on a par with Terry's carry-on in Munich.
