Sigurdsson: Has settled quickly at Swansea

Sigurdsson: Has settled quickly at Swansea

Gylfi Sigurdsson is refusing to waste too much energy thinking about his future but admits he would welcome the opportunity to remain with Swansea.

The Iceland international linked up with the Swans in January, with a loan switch from Hoffenheim pushed through.

That agreement saw the former Reading midfielder reunited with Brendan Rodgers, a man he worked under during his time at the Madejski Stadium.

Rogers has a knack of bringing the best out of Sigurdsson, and he has settled quickly back in English football.

He netted for Swansea in their 2-1 victory over West Brom on Saturday and admitted after that game that he is hoping to stay on in South Wales past the end of the season.

"It is something to be sorted out in the summer, but I am very happy here," said Sigurdsson.

"I am here until the end of the season and I want to help the team stay in the Premier League and then we'll see."

Victory over the Baggies saw Swansea move into the top half of the table and 10 points clear of the drop zone.

Sigurdsson, though, insists no-one at the Liberty Stadium will be taking Premier League survival for granted.

"We can't forget about relegation yet," he said.

"But there is a good group and we are playing well, which is down to the gaffer and the way we train.

"We have a lot of confidence at the moment. We play without fear, which I think is a positive thing."

ne of the many delights of the final few seconds of the season was seeing little Mike Owen with his trackie off and full replica kit on, getting ready to celebrate having contributed NOTHING all season. Would have been on a par with Terry's carry-on in Munich.
