Freiburg remained inside the bottom three but, with Hamburg beating Nurnberg 2-1 in their own lowly battle, Christian Streich's side are now just a point from safety.

Both Hamburg and Nurnberg are the teams directly above them, on 23 points, with Frankfurt now dangerously lingering only four points ahead.

Julian Schuster (34) and Karim Guede (54) gave Freiburg a 2-1 advantage and while Joselu (59) quickly pulled one back it was the only moment of joy for Eintracht.

Felix Klaus (70) restored Freiburg's two-goal cushion before Guede grabbed his second in injury-time.

Hamburg struck twice in the last 10 minutes to win at home to Nurnberg.

Hakan Calhanoglu belatedly gave Hamburg the lead in the 80th minute and Mike Frantz's own goal doubled their advantage before Josip Drmic managed to score Nurnberg's consolation goal on the stroke of full-time.

heyremind me of Utd's treble winning side. Swashbuckling and risk prone. We ha Jaap Stam to paper over the cracks at the back though. Not sure they have their Jaap yet.

he solution is to not feel sorry for any of Jabba, Gold or Sullivan. They're all deeply unpleasant and all deserve each other. If only West Ham would sign Barton and Suarez then no one would ever need to despise any other club.
