Jozy Altidore: Has been dropped for upcoming USA qualifiers

The AZ Alkmaar frontman has scored nine goals in 10 games in all competitions for the Dutch side this season and is tied as leading league scorer with eight goals.

However, Altidore failed to impress in the USA's World Cup qualifying double-header against Jamaica last month, prompting Klinsmann to omit him for the upcoming games against Antigua and Barbuda and Guatemala.

The coach told De Telegraaf: "I have told Jozy that I haven't been satisfied with his performances for us over the past 14 months.

"The fact that I haven't called him up right now is due to his performance in the two games in September and what he did on training days."

Altidore said of the snub: "I suppose sometimes this is just how it happens."
