All three frontmen have been in scoring form this season, with Rooney grabbing five in his last five games for United in all competitions, taking his tally this season to 13.

Van Persie has netted 22 for the Red Devils while Hernandez has landed 14 despite being a less regular figure in Ferguson's first-team.

Ferguson believes all three of his hitmen can reach the 25-goal mark this term as United target silverware in the league and in Europe.

He told The Sun: "If I can get Van Persie, Hernandez and Rooney on 25 goals it will get us in the ball-park position for honours.

"The way they are going, the signs are good. Chicho has 14, Wayne has 13, Robin 22."

Leaders Manchester United host Everton in the Premier League on Sunday and Ferguson is wary of his side being pegged back in the manner they were last season, when the Toffees came from 4-2 down for a 4-4 draw.

The manager believes that result was decisive in United's title collapse and has warned his players they must avoid it happening again.

He said: "If I had to pick out one single match where we lost our title it would have to be that game.

"What I can say is that it won't happen again - or if it does, then put it this way, they will feel the full effect of the hairdryer."

Ferguson has recently fended off questions regarding any potential retirement plans but United legend Sir Bobby Charlton expects the long-serving boss to stay on beyond the end of the season, particularly if his side lift the title.

Charlton told the Daily Mirror: "Alex won't walk away if he wins the title this season, I don't think he has any plans to do that at all."
